Health and Safety.
Carrickfergus Junior Gateway recognises our responsibility to ensure the health, safety and welfare at work of all children and volunteers; and all other persons whilst they are on our premises. It is the club’s policy to do all that is reasonable to prevent personal injury and damage to property and to protect all persons, including members of the general public, from foreseeable hazards that they could come into contact with at Carrickfergus Junior Gateway.
To ensure children, volunteers and any visitors safety we will:
- provide and maintain safe and healthy working conditions
- provide appropriate instruction and training to volunteers
- make available to volunteers all necessary equipment needed
- constantly review our health and safety procedures by consulting with volunteers, children, parents and guardians
- provide and maintain safe access to the club
We also recognise that all volunteers have a duty to exercise personal responsibility and to do everything practical to prevent injury to themselves and others.
We will appoint a safety officer to ensure the maintenance of the club and ensure any hazards are dealt with quickly.
As part of Sunnylands Youth Centre we will be in regular contact with the Centre manager to ensure the health and safety of all persons using the premises.
We are also committed to reviewing our policy and practice at regular intervals.
Procedure We in Carrickfergus Junior Gateway have set up policies and procedures in order to prevent and danger arising from a hazard in order to protect the children volunteers and any other persons that visit the club.
The procedure for dealing with any hazards relating to health and safety is as follows:
- Stage 1
- Inform leader in charge and quickly deal with the hazard to prevent any accidents or injuries.
- Stage 2
- Record the hazard in the Health and Safety book, including time, date and description of hazard.
- Stage 3
- The leader in charge will then inform Sunnylands Youth Centre’s manager about the hazard.
